BBC NEWS | Entertainment | Copying CDs could be made legal
Britain's proposed copyright law allows the owner of music to make additional copies for personal use. Compare that the RIAA's statement that such copying, in the U.S. is illegal. What we're missing is a good metaphor so here it is: the digital work protected by copyright is, to me, like a book. You can read it on the bus, on the train or in bed. The RiAA wants you to get a bus copy, a train copy, a bed copy...for each device you use to listen to the music you purchased. It is almost Alice in Wonderland over there.

How a Patent Ruling Is Changing Court Cases - WSJ.com
Good article on the fall-out from KSR v. Teleflex. The bottom line is we'll see a lot more of this language: "The judge ruled that Friskit's patent claims were nothing more than obvious combinations of elements publicly available, including RealNetworks' own Internet products. Judge William Schwarzer concluded that "the idea of integrating these different components was not novel."

MARILYN MONROE ESTATE HAS NO RIGHT OF PUBLICITY
Decision based on the rights she held at the time of her death which did not include a right of publicity.
From Litwak's blog,
"A federal judge has held that Marilyn Monroe's right of publicity did not survive her death. Consequently a the owner of photographs of her could sell images of the screen siren to commercial product manufacturers without paying a licensing fee."

Jolie pushes back
I think celebrities will do this more and more, just perhaps a little less heavy-handedly.
